Today I got ride of my two hens.
The city came down on us.
Goodbye sweet brown eggs,
Goodbye yellow foot cluckers,
Goodbye fertile fertile poo doo,
Goodbye two sweet brown birdies,
Thankfully they went to good home,
Mikes daughter can tell chickens apart by the color of their eyes. They’ll be joining a flock of 20 and will be right at home. He has lots of land an they’ll be able to run around foraging during the day:)
City < Country
We move forward.
Take it easy, always.
Hey all just wanted to let you all know my chickens will be leaving. They are heading to a new home of which I’m not sure yet… I received a letter saying that someone complained I have “more than 6 chickens”. I’ve only had 2 chickens the whole time… On top of that they say that my chickens aren’t registered.
She says she has a date planned to come through the backyard. I don’t think it works with my schedule. She said she’ll take pictures over my fence, or from a neighbors deck into my yard.
She said if the coops is there or the feed, she will issue a ticket. I’m getting rid of the birds but I believe it’s not illegal to have garden art.
I don’t know who would state such untrue statements. I don’t want to make my neighbors upset. I just wish whoever complained would’ve confronted me. I would get rid of them promptly. I just want to know the real reason. I would never want my neighbors upset…
Pictured above is a pumpkin!!!
Say goodbye to my birds. I will get sculptures of chickens to replace them. That structure isn’t going anywhere, it’s garden art and functional art I plan to store tools inside:)
Stay tuned and stay happy
Howdy! How are y’all! Long time no talk. Check out what I’ve been doing! Picking the freshest berries, watching my tomatoes grow, keeping honeybees interested with my borage flowers!
Stay tuned year by year were getting bigger badder and better!
Raspberries are tearing it up for the second year! Can’t believe it I’ve started breaking them apart and spreading I want MORE. haha you’ll find me making a dinner out of them come harvest time.
Borage pictured below is about to bloom I remember it being taller in the past gardens I’ve had. We will see:) beautiful blue bee loving flowers.
Holy tomato blossoms!
Cilantro just killing the game, would you look at that thing grow! I love cilantro on fresh tacos! Too delicious!
How’s your garden??
Enjoy this weekend
Intro for those new, this is the garden we started a year and a couple months ago. We had an old coop, now we got a new one, had no walls now we do have walls, soils slightly better and growing as the compost is fattening. Check out all the worms in my compost, I use red wigglers. Stay tuned it’s going to get real country.
Below is my tomato planter I have a variety of tomatoes. Behind them is a stump planter with wave petunias. Dragged the stump from a river and it was hollowed.
My chickens pictured below are very very good to me, I get 2 eggs a day…change their water and feed them very often.
Get them and keep them happy and they will provide for you.
Fresh cilantro enjoyed last night for dinner, the first yeild of this years garden. Very very good.
Borage flowers that have yet to bloom very early, the flowers attract many bees and can be eaten as well. Many places use as a garnish.
The garden becomes peaceful when dusk rolls in, nice place to enjoy a good book, or relax with the birds.
Green beans seem to be growing well after getting in too early this year.
This is my compost pile. The key to good soil, as mentioned earlier, is red wigglers in the pile actively feasting on all the good scraps.
The goal is to grow what you eat, grow more than you can eat and give to those who you love.
Holy moly I noticed my tomatoes flowering already!!! And then I look at my raspberries and they’re flowering too! I’m so excited y’all as it keeps growing this place will yield and yeilds and yeild.
Don’t let the grocery store have you.
Got these ferns from a good friends mom she was so sweet to lend me them. Can’t wait until next year when they come back so full. Ferns are rarely seen in the city. They’d prolly call them blight. Good all ordinances coming to the rescue!
Look at them raspberrys^^Anyways there’s my pictures for y’all! Please comment message and share!!! Love y’all
Poked my head around the greenhouse yesterday! Couldn’t help myself when I saw the marigolds, my mom likes the wave petunias. So loaded up the car and off I went.
Changed the tree trunk urn to the wave petunias!
Them Marigolds are susposed to keep bad bugs away from eating your plants I’m not sure what all they deter, but eh good for the cause.
My lil coffee books beginning to appear
Planting annuals in Michigan a little late but just on the safe side. I know some people have had them out 4 weeks now, but It’ll last all summer!
